Letter from Jill Hall - Brown County Auditor:

Welcome to the real estate tax list archives of the Brown County Auditor.  After becoming auditor in 2013, I had always wanted to find a way to make this information readily available to the public and preserve our history.  I did extensive research for a company to provide the scanning expertise and understand that the books themselves must be preserved throughout the process.  I was so excited when the scanning project began in February 2018.  Information for each year going forward will be added as available.  My hope is that making the information available online allows people all over the world to research their ancestry and find information at their fingertips.

Due to a Court House fire in 1977, many years of books were lost, so you will see gaps in the information scanned.  Also during that fire, some books were saved but received water damage and therefore some information in them is no longer visible.  We have scanned every page that still exists.

The physical books themselves are now housed at the Union Township Public Library in Ripley, Ohio.  You always have the option to view them during library hours.
